This Water Turbine with Dynamo Model is an engaging and durable demonstration apparatus designed for KS3 and above, ideal for teaching how hydro‑electric power stations convert moving water into electrical energy. With its clear, transparent turbine cover and integrated dynamo, students can directly observe the process of energy transfer—from kinetic energy in flowing water to electrical energy powering a lamp or spinning a Newton’s colour disc.
Engineered for use with low water pressure, the turbine performs exceptionally well even with modest flow rates, and even better under higher pressure. The sturdy construction includes a brass‑chromed water wheel housed in a cast aluminium casing approximately 10 cm in diameter, all mounted on a strong metal base alongside a dynamo, small motor, lamp, and LED.
A selector switch allows users to direct generated power either to a lamp or to a Newton’s colour disc, which appears white when rotating rapidly. The included LED receives constant power from the system but can be removed to draw current from the 4 mm output terminals using standard lab leads.
To support different tap types and water sources, the model comes with a 25 mm outflow tube and a water inlet tube with adaptor. A comprehensive instruction manual is included.
