The Sun, Earth & Moon Orbiter Model is a high‑quality three‑dimensional teaching aid designed to clearly demonstrate the changing positions, motions and interactions of the Earth, Moon and Sun. This engaging model helps students understand essential astronomical concepts such as seasons, lunar phases, eclipses, orbital motion and tides.
The model features a 5.9" diameter Sun, 4" diameter Earth and 1" diameter Moon. Both the Earth and Moon are mounted on durable metal rods and can be manually rotated to show their relative movement around each other and the Sun. A bright internal LED light inside the Sun simulates sunlight, allowing learners to observe how angles of illumination change throughout the year. (Requires 2 × AA batteries, not included.)
The model sits on a sturdy base clearly labelled with each month of the year and seasonal markers for both hemispheres. This allows students to explore Earth’s annual revolution and the effect of axial tilt on seasonal variation. The base provides excellent stability for demonstrations.
Included is a comprehensive experiment guide featuring structured activities, worksheets, solstice and equinox charts, and further topics for exploration—ideal for supporting classroom teaching and independent learning.
Perfect for KS2, KS3 and GCSE science, this orbiter model helps students explore:
Durable, engaging and scientifically accurate, the Sun, Earth & Moon Orbiter Model is an essential classroom resource for teaching fundamental astronomy concepts.
