Solar System Model

This detailed three‑dimensional Solar System Model allows students to explore the structure of our planetary system, examining the relative sizes, positions and colours of the eight major planets. It clearly demonstrates why planets are visible at certain times of year and not at others, helping learners understand key astronomical concepts through hands‑on interaction.

The model includes a central 5.9" Sun with eight planets—Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune—mounted on durable metal support bars. Each planet can be manually moved around the Sun, allowing students to model orbital paths and relative positions at various times of the year.

The sturdy base is organised with a month‑by‑month chart and a degree‑based position scale, making it easy to demonstrate orbital progression. The model stands 13" tall, with the outer planet extending 10.75" from the Sun. When aligned, the full model measures 18.25" wide.

A comprehensive experiment guide is included, featuring three structured activities, a planet location table, additional exploration topics and a helpful grading rubric for classroom use.
