This premium Van De Graaff Generator, generates very high DC voltages, but is safe to use due to a low output current. The generator features a conducting sphere with a diameter of 220mm. The top of the sphere can be dismantled to reveal the design/workings of the device. Static electricity is produced by a rubber belt and 2 plastic rollers. The bottom roller is powered by a drive belt with 3 speeds in steps via the 230V Motor or hand operated with the hand crank. There is an earthing socket on the motor housing for a ground connection or for connecting to a separate conducting sphere.

Detailed description: This High Voltage Van de Graaff Generator makes teaching electrostatics exciting! The size of the sphere, the rounded edges of the sphere and the height of the sphere from the demonstration table contribute to the high voltages generated. Its large size, wide belt, long sparks and high voltages make it ideal for use in larger rooms or lecture halls. In addition, the transparent column allows students to see how the system operates. The accessories provide additional opportunities to demonstrate many aspects of electrostatics. This large machine generates up to 400,000 volts under favourable conditions. Spark lengths up to 80mm can be obtained. The machine features a transparent shock-resistant butyrate column that gives a clear view of the wide belt’s operation and a 220mm diameter Aluminium collector globe.
