The Hydraulic Press by Eisco is a high‑quality educational apparatus designed to demonstrate the transmission of pressure in liquids and the principle of mechanical advantage. Based on Pascal’s principle, this hands‑on model clearly shows how force can be multiplied when pressure is applied through interconnected cylinders of different cross‑sectional areas.
The apparatus uses two graduated glass syringes with capacities of 10ml and 50ml, providing a 3:1 cross‑sectional area ratio. When force is applied to the smaller syringe, pressure is transmitted evenly through the fluid, producing a larger force at the wider syringe. Each piston is fitted with a 90mm diameter loading platform, allowing weights to be added for clear, quantitative demonstrations.
In addition to hydraulic demonstrations, the graduated syringe barrels can also be used to carry out simple Boyle’s law experiments, making this a versatile and valuable resource for physics teaching. The clear construction allows students to easily observe changes in volume and pressure throughout the experiment.
Ideal for GCSE and A‑Level physics lessons, this hydraulic press model provides a clear, visual explanation of how pressure behaves in fluids. It helps students connect mathematical theory to real‑world applications such as hydraulic jacks, brakes, and industrial presses.
Clear, versatile, and conceptually powerful, the Eisco Hydraulic Press is an excellent teaching aid for helping students understand key principles of pressure, hydraulics, and gas laws in the school physics curriculum.
