Each stopclock uses a quartz timing mechanism and features a large, clear 15mm LCD display. Simple start/stop and reset controls are provided through two large, colour-coded buttons, while the robust high-grade ABS casing and rubber feet are designed for stability and repeated classroom use.

For experiments requiring external triggering, 4mm sockets positioned at the rear of the stopclock allow connection to compatible remote switches, timing gates and other suitable apparatus. Positioning the sockets at the rear helps keep connecting leads away from the main working area in front of the timer.

A useful split timing function allows the elapsed time at a particular point to be displayed without stopping the underlying timing process. Pressing the Reset/Split button during timing displays the elapsed time to that point; pressing it again returns the display to the total elapsed time while timing continues until the stop button is pressed.

Each stopclock is powered by a single AA battery, which is included. The screw-secured battery compartment helps prevent unnecessary access during lessons, while the timer does not require resetting after a battery change, helping technicians minimise setup time.
