Rotary Investigation Apparatus – Centripetal Force Demonstration System

This Rotary Investigation Apparatus provides a simple yet highly effective way to explore centripetal force and circular motion in school physics lessons. Designed to make a challenging concept both clear and enjoyable, the system enables students of all secondary ages to investigate the relationship between force, radius, mass, and rotational speed.

A spring mechanism is securely enclosed within a transparent acrylic tube, allowing students to safely whirl a rubber ball in a horizontal circle. The radius and mass can be easily adjusted, and the rotational speed is measured by timing the number of revolutions. Forces can be read in simple “force increments,” or in newtons when the spring is pre‑calibrated. Full instructions are included for straightforward setup and use.

Key Features

  • Effective centripetal force demonstration system
  • Clear acrylic tube enclosing a spring mechanism for safety
  • Rubber ball whirled in a horizontal circle
  • Adjustable radius and variable mass
  • Rotational speed measured by timing revolutions
  • Forces displayed in increments or newtons (with calibration)
  • Suitable for students across the full secondary age range
  • Includes full instructions

Ideal for School Science Lessons

Perfect for KS3, GCSE, and A‑Level physics, this Rotary Investigation system brings the principles of circular motion to life, offering hands‑on experience that helps students understand centripetal force in a vivid and memorable way.

  • Investigating centripetal force and the variables that affect it
  • Exploring the relationship between radius, mass, and rotational speed
  • Understanding uniform circular motion
  • Collecting data for force–speed–radius analysis
  • Building key skills in timing, measurement, and data interpretation

Engaging, reliable, and easy to use, this apparatus supports high‑quality physics teaching and provides a clear, hands‑on method for studying one of the core principles of motion.
