The Hanna Phosphate Test Kit provides a reliable, easy‑to‑use method for determining orthophosphate levels in water samples. Using a precise colorimetric method, this kit is ideal for environmental science studies, water‑quality monitoring and general laboratory investigations.
Phosphate concentration is measured by reacting orthophosphate with ammonium molybdate and potassium antimonyl tartrate in an acidic medium to form a phosphomolybdate complex. This is then reduced by ascorbic acid to produce an intense molybdenum blue colour. The depth of colour corresponds directly to the phosphate concentration in mg/L (ppm).
This test kit measures orthophosphate only—the most common and immediately bioavailable type—just like standard industry test kits. It does not measure condensed or organically bound phosphates.
The kit is supplied with all necessary components for accurate measurement, including a 20 ml plastic beaker, colour comparison cube, and 50 reagent packets.
Perfect for KS3, GCSE and A‑Level environmental science, biology and chemistry, this phosphate test kit supports hands‑on exploration of:
Reliable, portable and easy to use, the Hanna Phosphate Test Kit is an excellent tool for practical science education and environmental monitoring.
