The Molymod Diamond Model is a high‑quality molecular modelling set designed to clearly demonstrate the three‑dimensional lattice structure of diamond, one of the most important allotropes of carbon. This hands‑on model helps students visualise how each carbon atom is covalently bonded to four others in a rigid tetrahedral arrangement.
The set includes 30 black carbon atoms and 40 grey linking bonds, allowing students to construct a representative section of the diamond crystal lattice. Atom parts range in size from 14–23mm in diameter, making the model clear, robust, and easy to handle during classroom demonstrations and group activities.
Using durable Molymod components, this model is ideal for repeated use and supports kinaesthetic and visual learning when teaching structure–property relationships in chemistry.
Perfect for KS4, GCSE, and A‑Level chemistry, the Molymod Diamond Model helps students understand how atomic structure influences physical properties such as hardness and melting point.
Clear, engaging, and scientifically accurate, the Molymod Diamond Model is an essential teaching aid for helping students grasp the rigid lattice structure of diamond and the wider chemistry of carbon.
