It uses a fixed “A” frequency weighting, which closely matches human hearing, along with selectable fast (125ms) or slow (1s) time response weightings. A precision ½‑inch electret condenser microphone ensures reliable and consistent sound measurement.

In addition to sound level measurement, the instrument also displays environmental temperature on a clear, 30mm hi‑contrast colour LCD display. The screen updates every 300ms and includes backlighting for use in low‑light environments, along with clear function indicators for user confidence.

User‑friendly features include Data Hold, Min/Max recording (LAF/LAS min and max), a low battery indicator, and automatic power‑off after 15 minutes of inactivity (which can be disabled if required).
