This Melting Point Apparatus is an ergonomic, easy‑to‑use instrument designed to measure the melting point of solids accurately and safely. Suitable for both educational laboratories and industrial training environments, the unit has been developed with a strong focus on user safety, clarity, and reliable performance.
Operation is simple and intuitive, with a single front‑mounted control knob that combines the mains ON/OFF switch with an arbitrary temperature control scale from 0 to 10. A dedicated rapid heat switch allows higher temperatures to be reached quickly when required. Samples are clearly visible via rear illumination and a built‑in magnifying lens, ensuring accurate observation of melting behaviour.
For enhanced viewing flexibility, a selector on the rear of the apparatus allows the user to choose between a light or dark background. The aluminium heating block is surrounded by ceramic insulation, which minimises heat transfer to the outer casing and improves safety during extended use. The apparatus is supplied with full instructions and supports optional accessories including a thermometer (code 0539) and capillary tubes (code 0540).
This melting point apparatus is ideal for use in KS4, GCSE, and A‑Level chemistry lessons, helping students understand important concepts related to purity, physical properties, and phase changes. It is particularly useful for:
Safe, precise, and straightforward to operate, this Melting Point Apparatus is a valuable teaching tool that supports accurate measurement and enhances practical learning in school laboratories.
