Magnetic Field Apparatus – Set of 3 Perspex‑Mounted Conductors (KS4+)
The Magnetic Field Apparatus is a versatile and highly effective set designed to demonstrate the electromagnetic fields produced by electric currents. Suitable for KS4 and post‑16 physics, the set includes three perspex‑mounted wire configurations, allowing students to explore magnetic field patterns around different conductor shapes using iron filings or plotting compasses.
Each component is manufactured from high‑quality 1.5mm diameter copper wire mounted on clear, durable bases to ensure maximum visibility during demonstrations. This apparatus is ideal for practical lessons covering electromagnetism, field direction, and the relationship between current and magnetic field strength.
Included Components
Single Conductor – A vertical wire arranged in a rectangular support loop.
Capable of carrying up to 8A, it clearly shows the circular magnetic field produced around a straight current‑carrying conductor. Ideal for use with iron filings or plotting compasses.
Single Turn Flat Coil – A 62mm diameter coil made from 1.5mm copper wire.
Supports currents up to 8A and demonstrates the field through and around a circular loop.
Five Turn Flat Coil – A 62mm diameter coil with 5 turns of 1.5mm copper wire.
Restricted to 5A maximum current, ideal for showing the increased field strength due to multiple turns.
Open Helix Coil – A helical coil consisting of 14 turns of 1.5mm copper wire, open wound on a clear base.
Measures 51mm in diameter × 92mm long, ideal for showing magnetic field lines along the length of a solenoid.
