This simple yet highly effective Lung Demonstration Model provides students with a clear, hands‑on understanding of how the respiratory system works. Designed for KS3 and above, the apparatus allows learners to see how lungs expand and contract during breathing by mimicking the action of the diaphragm inside the chest cavity.
The model consists of two flexible sacs that represent the lungs, a rubber diaphragm that simulates the muscular action controlling breathing, and a clear plastic enclosure representing the ribcage and thoracic cavity. When the diaphragm is pushed or pulled, students can observe air entering and leaving the lung sacs, demonstrating inhalation and exhalation in a memorable and visual way.
With a compact yet impactful design measuring approximately 16.5cm (D) × 33cm (H), this model is ideal for classroom demonstrations, revision activities, and group exploration.
The balloons and diaphragm of this model are made from natural rubber, which will naturally degrade over time. To prolong their life:
Rubber components are considered consumables and will eventually require replacement. Spare parts are available:
Perfect for KS3 and GCSE biology, this lung model enhances understanding of the respiratory system through interactive, visual learning. It is ideal for teaching:
Engaging, easy to use, and perfect for demonstrating core biological principles, this Lung Demonstration Model is a must‑have teaching aid for any school science department.
