Magic Snow is a highly absorbent, completely non‑toxic form of polyacrylamide with similar properties to hydrogel but with one impressive difference—it expands extremely rapidly when exposed to water, forming a realistic, fluffy, snow‑like material within seconds.
Commonly used on TV and film sets to create high‑pressure artificial snow effects, this material multiplies many times its own volume, making it ideal for demonstrations, experiments, and creative STEM activities. When injected into a jet of high‑pressure water, it instantly transforms into the dramatic “set snow” used in visual productions.
In the classroom, Magic Snow is perfect for investigations into absorption, polymers, material science and water retention. It is also excellent as a raw material for pupil‑designed snow machines and engineering challenges.
A small amount goes a very long way—just a large handful of powder can produce a bucketful of snow. The material is re‑usable once dried.
Magic Snow is perfect for KS2, KS3 and GCSE science and supports engaging investigations into:
Easy to use, safe and visually impressive, Magic Snow brings polymer science to life in the classroom through hands‑on, high‑impact demonstrations.
