The Aluminium Calorimeter Heating Block is a precision‑engineered physics apparatus designed for the experimental determination of the specific heat capacity of metals. Suitable for KS4, GCSE, and A‑Level physics, this robust block provides accurate and repeatable results when investigating thermal properties and energy transfer.
Manufactured from solid aluminium, the cylindrical block measures approximately 86mm in height and 76mm in diameter and has a mass of 1kg, adjusted to an accuracy of ±2%. The known mass and uniform material properties make it ideal for reliable specific heat capacity calculations in educational experiments.
Each block is precision drilled with two holes: a 12.5mm central hole designed to fit the Better Equipped Premium Immersion Heater (code 0249), and a secondary 7.5mm hole for inserting a thermometer or electronic temperature sensor. This allows controlled heating alongside accurate temperature measurement throughout the experiment.
This aluminium heating block is ideal for secondary school physics lessons focused on thermal physics and material properties. Aluminium’s relatively low specific heat capacity compared with some other metals makes it ideal for comparison studies.
Accurate, durable, and curriculum‑aligned, the Aluminium Calorimeter Heating Block is an essential teaching aid for helping students connect theoretical thermal equations with meaningful experimental data.
