Calcium(II) Oxide, more commonly known as Quicklime, is supplied in a 500g pack in solid lump form and classified as Technical Grade (T). This reactive inorganic compound is widely used in educational science laboratories for demonstrating fundamental chemical concepts involving metal oxides, hydration reactions, and energy changes.
Identified by CAS Number: 1305‑78‑8 and UN Number: 1910, calcium oxide reacts vigorously with water to form calcium hydroxide, releasing a significant amount of heat. Due to its strongly alkaline and exothermic behaviour, it must be handled carefully and used strictly under supervision in accordance with COSHH risk assessments.
Please note: this product is supplied exclusively to educational establishments and is shipped only to school addresses. It is intended for supervised educational use only.
Calcium(II) Oxide Lump is most suitable for GCSE and A‑Level chemistry lessons, particularly where students study metal oxides, exothermic reactions, and the chemistry of lime. All use should be teacher‑led and carried out with appropriate personal protective equipment.
Carefully packaged and supplied specifically for education, Calcium Oxide (Calcium(II) Oxide) Lump Technical Grade provides a powerful and memorable demonstration material that supports curriculum‑aligned learning while reinforcing safe laboratory practice.
