The BrightSparks Thermistor Module is a robust NTC 5K temperature‑sensitive resistor designed for use with the BrightSparks 4Kids modular electronics range. This module allows students to explore how electrical resistance changes with temperature, providing a clear and practical introduction to sensing and control in electronic circuits.
Designed for safe operation in 1.5–6V DC circuits, the thermistor changes its resistance according to ambient temperature. As a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) device, its resistance is high at low temperatures and decreases as the temperature rises. This behaviour makes it ideal for demonstrating temperature monitoring and automatic control concepts.
Electrical connections are made using two unpolarised 4mm plug‑in sockets, allowing quick and simple setup without concern for polarity. The module is fitted with non‑slip rubber feet to ensure stability on desks and laboratory benches during hands‑on investigations.
The BrightSparks Thermistor Module is ideal for KS2, KS3, and introductory KS4 science lessons, helping students understand how temperature can be measured and controlled using electronic components.
Durable, intuitive, and highly effective, the BrightSparks Thermistor Module is an excellent classroom tool for introducing temperature sensing, automation, and basic control systems in a safe and engaging way.
