Boyle’s Law Apparatus with Pressure Gauge [0460]

The Boyle’s Law Apparatus with Gauge is a robust, modern teaching instrument designed to clearly demonstrate the relationship between pressure and volume of a gas in accordance with Boyle’s Law. Suitable for KS4, GCSE, and A‑Level physics, this improved apparatus allows students to obtain accurate, quantitative results while observing the experiment in real time.

In operation, coloured water or oil is gradually pumped from an external reservoir into a strong, calibrated glass tube containing trapped air. As the liquid level rises, the volume of air is read directly from the graduated glass tube, while the corresponding pressure is measured simultaneously using a Bourdon pressure gauge. This direct comparison makes the inverse pressure–volume relationship especially clear.

The glass tube is calibrated from 0–55cm and is manufactured from extra‑strong glass for classroom durability. For additional safety, the tube is protected by a clear plastic safety screen. The Bourdon gauge features a transparent plastic back, allowing students to see the internal mechanism in action and better understand how pressure measurement works.

The apparatus includes a needle valve for fine control and safe pressure release, along with a nozzle connection for a hand pump. The unit can be used with water instead of oil, offering flexibility for schools. The apparatus is supplied without oil and hand pump, allowing departments to use existing equipment where appropriate.
