DNA Helix Activity Model [0781]

The DNA Helix Activity Model is a hands‑on, three‑dimensional teaching resource designed to help students clearly understand the structure and function of DNA. Suitable for KS3 and above, this engaging model allows learners to build their own rotating double helix, reinforcing key biological concepts through practical interaction.

This colourful and durable model is easy to assemble and uses snap‑together components to represent the correct base pair sequence of DNA. The paired bases attach to a central rod symbolising hydrogen bonds, while two flexible outer strands represent the alternating pentose sugar and phosphate backbone. Once complete, the finished model forms a realistic double helix that can be rotated on its sturdy base for clear demonstration.

The set includes all the materials needed to construct one complete DNA model and comes supplied with a clear instruction manual. The assembled model measures approximately 13 × 13 × 45cm and weighs around 250g, making it ideal for both classroom use and storage.
