The Frederiksen g by Free Fall Apparatus is a precise and easy-to-use experimental setup designed to determine the acceleration due to gravity (g). Ideal for educational use, this apparatus provides a clear and engaging way for students to explore one of the fundamental constants in physics through hands-on investigation.
The system features an electromagnet release mechanism that holds a ball in place before releasing it. At the exact moment of release, the timer is automatically started. When the ball reaches the impact plate, the timing stops instantly, allowing for highly accurate measurement of the fall time over a known distance.
Using the measured height (h) and time (t), students can easily calculate gravitational acceleration using standard equations. The apparatus is fully compatible with the Frederiksen Student Timer (80908) and connects via 4mm safety (banana) sockets.
Supplied with a selection of test objects, including gold-plated steel balls of different diameters and a table tennis ball of equivalent mass, this apparatus allows students to investigate the effects of air resistance and mass on falling objects. Stand not included.
Perfect for GCSE and A-Level physics, this apparatus provides a hands-on approach to studying motion and gravity. It is particularly useful for:
Accurate, intuitive, and highly educational, the Frederiksen g by Free Fall Apparatus is an essential tool for teaching core physics principles and supporting practical science learning in the classroom.
