These low‑cost UV (solar) beads provide an exciting and visual way to explore the effects of ultraviolet light. Extremely sensitive to natural daylight, the beads change dramatically from white to vibrant colours when exposed to UV radiation—even on cloudy or overcast days. This makes them ideal for teaching about sunlight, the electromagnetic spectrum, and the effects of UV energy.
Each bead contains a trace amount of photochromic pigment that reacts specifically to the UV component of sunlight, making these beads useful for both creative projects and scientific investigations. This pack includes 50 beads in total, with 10 beads each of 5 different colour variations.
Perfect for KS2, KS3, and GCSE Science, UV beads provide a hands‑on, visual way to investigate ultraviolet light and the effects of solar radiation. They support a wide range of curriculum topics, including:
Engaging, affordable, and easy to use, these UV Beads are an excellent resource for bringing light, radiation, and energy topics to life in the classroom.
