This high‑quality 10ml Ferrofluid offers an exciting and visually captivating way to explore magnetism in both science and design & technology lessons. Ferrofluid is a unique magnetic liquid made from microscopic magnetite particles suspended in mineral oil. Each particle is coated with a special surfactant to prevent clumping, ensuring smooth, stable movement within magnetic fields.
When exposed to a magnet, the suspended particles align instantly, forming striking 3‑dimensional magnetic field shapes. This is a modern, dynamic version of the classic “iron filings on paper” demonstration—now with fluid, dramatic spikes and patterns that react in real time.
Ferrofluid also allows students to explore concepts such as apparent density. For example: place a coin in a shallow (5mm) pool of Ferrofluid and it will naturally sink. Bring a strong magnet beneath the container and the coin will float as the Ferrofluid becomes temporarily denser under magnetic influence.
Each set is supplied in a durable plastic jar containing 10ml of Ferrofluid, along with a rare earth magnet for immediate classroom use.
This Ferrofluid set is perfect for KS3, GCSE, and A‑Level science and technology lessons, bringing magnetism to life through engaging hands‑on demonstrations. Teachers and technicians can use it to support a wide range of curriculum topics.
Engaging, safe, and endlessly fascinating, this Ferrofluid kit provides an excellent way to stimulate curiosity and support practical science learning in the classroom.
